To aid its Egyptian partners seeking democracy program support online, NDI has developed an Arabic-language website, www.ndiegypt.org, to provide e-learning modules and free resources available for download.
The NDI-Egypt website focuses on four areas of technical assistance: political party development, civil society and advocacy, domestic election observation, and women’s and youth political participation. Each topic is divided into modules and features video narrated in Arabic, with related NDI publications, guides and templates, that visitors to the site can use at their own pace.
These manuals include both publications geared specifically to Egypt - particularly with regard to election observation and party poll watching - and more general resources. They are readily available for users to download, print and distribute to their colleagues, including audiences that do not have access to the Internet.
NDI formally launched the site on Nov. 14, 2012. Each time a new module or manual is uploaded, NDI posts a short explanation of the resource and a direct link to that page on the Institute’s Facebook page.
In the six months since the launch, approximately 42,000 web users have visited the site. They have downloaded more than 7,627 NDI modules, manuals and guides. NDI develops and uploads new modules to the website on a regular basis.
