Nairobi, Kenya—The Joint International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) International Election Observation Mission (IEOM) presented its initial findings and recommendations for Kenya’s 2022 general elections following voting and counting on August 9.

We, the Heads of the international election observation and expert missions in Kenya, have been following preparations for the 9 August 2022 general elections by all stakeholders in Kenya, including the campaign activities of political parties, party coalitions, and candidates. We call on the leadership of all political parties and their supporters, as well as civil society, faith-based organisations, and all other stakeholders, to ensure a continuation of the calm and peaceful atmosphere during the remaining phases of the electoral process. 

Nairobi, Kenya - The International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) announce the deployment of a joint international election observation mission to Kenya. The delegation arrived at the invitation of the Government of Kenya and received accreditation from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to observe the August 9 General Elections.

In May, 49.2 percent of Lebanese voters, in Lebanon and outside the country, went to the polls to elect a new parliament. The months preceding the elections were marked by uncertainty, with domestic and international observers unsure if elections would take place on time or at all. The lack of commitment from the government to implement elections resulted in delayed preparations for elections and inequalities among candidates. Despite these challenges, election authorities successfully implemented elections on May 15, 2022 as scheduled by the December 28, 2021 governmental decree.

This document provides a detailed understanding of the July 31 2022 legislative elections in Senegal and functions as a guide for Senegal’s voters to help them exercise their voting rights. The document covers the function of Senegal’s election management bodies; notably, the Direction Générale des Elections (DGE) and the Commission Electorale Nationale Autonome (CENA).

From July 13 to 22, 2022, the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) conducted the first pre-election assessment mission as part of their joint observation of Nigeria’s 2023 general elections.

Osun State, Nigeria– An international pre-election assessment mission arrived in Osun State today to monitor the voting process for the state’s gubernatorial elections on July 16, 2022. This is the first of two missions jointly led by the  International Republican Institute (IRI) and  National Democratic Institute (NDI) to evaluate Nigeria’s preparations for the 2023 general elections.
