TBILISI - Poll results released today by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and CRRC Georgia show a growing disconnect between citizens and elected officials in Georgia. People mostly expect MPs to serve their party’s interests (75 percent) and their own interests (55 percent), over those of citizens (41 percent), with results even less favorable in Tbilisi.

Leadership of the delegation will hold a press conference tomorrow, Thursday, December 28 at 11:30 am in Monrovia to report the delegation’s preliminary findings and recommendations on steps that could enhance confidence and participation in the election process. The leadership will be available for individual interviews.

TBILISI – The National Democratic Institute offers this final report in the spirit of international cooperation and respect for Georgians’ democratic aspirations. The report is the culmination of an observation effort that included a pre-election assessment mission, which issued a statement on July 21; a team of long-term observers and analysts who observed the process from late August to mid-November and published an interim report on October 2; and an election day delegation, which issued a statement on October 22.
This preliminary statement is offered by the National Democratic Institute’s (NDI) election observer delegation for Liberia’s 2017 presidential and legislative elections. The purpose of the mission is to support Liberia’s efforts to conduct peaceful, credible polls; impartially and accurately assess the electoral process to date; and offer recommendations to improve future elections.
